The Rise of ‘Brotox’
According to a recent article, more men are getting Botox than ever before.
With some dubbing the treatment now as ‘Brotox’, figures released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons showed that 400,000 men received Botox in 2014 – a 337% increase since 2000. In addition, over 90,000 men received fillers marking an 86% increase since 2000.
These figures challenge the perception that only women are attracted to facial rejuvenation treatments, and highlights the popularity in these non-surgical techniques.
When done properly by a trained dentist, doctor, or registered nurse, facial enhancement treatments like Botox and fillers can be a great way to remove unwanted lines and generally look fresher.
Whilst they are classed as non-surgical treatments, they aren’t without risks. That’s why it is essential for anyone interested in facial rejuvenation treatments to have a full consultation with a trained professional first.
For patients who see me for Botox or fillers, I always find out why they want the treatment, their concerns and the results they are looking for. This helps me to identify whether the treatments are right for them and advise on the likely results.
So whether you’re a woman looking to remove unwanted lines, or of course a man undertaking some regular beauty maintenance, always do your research thoroughly and be sure to find a trained professional who can administer the treatment safely.
