What are adult braces?
Adult braces are sometimes referred to as adult orthodontics, invisible braces or cosmetic braces. They are an orthodontic – teeth straightening – solution designed with people like you in mind, busy adults who want to correct the appearance and alignment of their teeth as quickly and as discreetly as possible. In fact, many of these adult braces or aligners are almost invisible to the casual observer.
Am I too old for braces?
You’re never too old for braces. I provide cosmetic brace solutions to patients of all ages, proving that it’s never too late to have straighter teeth. Many people suffer the embarrassment of crooked teeth in silence, and often regret not wearing braces when they were a teenager. Adult orthodontics are discreet and widely accepted these days, which means you no longer have to settle for a less than perfect smile.
Do adult braces hurt?
Adult braces tend to work by using a low, gentle force to move specific teeth into the right position. This gentle approach means that you shouldn’t experience too much pain. You may feel some slight discomfort immediately after I fit your brace or change an aligner but this can generally be controlled using over-the-counter pain medication.
Will I have to wear a retainer?
I always recommend that you wear a retainer after any orthodontic treatment, as this will help keep your teeth in their new position (after all, they have probably been out of alignment for many years). I will explain more about how and when you need to wear your retainer when you come into the practice.
